yeah i think the music box imagery in caramel is gonna make me implode. like.

you have vessel, who's stuck as the dancer within the music box, his so-called "prison," forced to spin and dance to the rhythm per some mechanical programming or code that he can't seem to break. he feels as if he has to do it for us, asking us if we like that:

tell me, did i give you what you came for?

are we satisfied with what he gives us?

and then you have us, the users, the consumers, who crank the music box. we wind it up let the music box sing a song to us, often without a second thought. perhaps it sings a soothing lullaby or dramatic tune we can take comfort in as we watch the dancer spin around in the center to the rhythm.

and when we're done with it, when the song ends, we close it for the time being and the dancer stops. when we want to hear it again, we open it back up and wind it back up again to hear the melody and observe the dancer. it's just a cycle. a cycle in which the figure in the center is left dancing forever per the wishes of the user.

but, despite being stuck on the "stage [that] is a prison," vessel invites us to dance along too:

but i'm still glad you came, so let me see those hands

walk beside me till you feel nothin' as well

after all, why don't we both dance to the same rhythm, the same pained melody together? if we are to be submerged, let us be submerged together. perhaps we can even show each other how to dance forever.

basically just. yeah, we share pain and suffering.

i don't inherently see the entirety of caramel as negative -- it's sad, yes, but i do find it bittersweet. another post on this incoming idk

Fics that "rewrite" canon except introducing a different element in it, whether it be a canon divergent AU thing, a character's POV that's different from canon...

Do you prefer an "actual rewrite" of canon, that is, a lot of scenes from canon retold to the reader with some changes, big or small?

Or do you prefer for the author to skip over the scenes we should already know from canon, unless the differences are really big and important?

I hope Jean doesn't come off as like... othering himself from vampires or "he's not like one THOSE vampires" type thing cause him not giving into bloodlust and whatnot is literally him holding on to his humanity. He doesn't want to lose what remains of him being human and it messes him up so bad at times. There's no going back to what he once was, and even if there was the chance, he still wouldn't be the same, wouldn't feel the same.

Thinking about King!Stone and Knight!Butcher and how we tried to pair them up. Only to fail.

But the scenario I'm thinking of relies on King!Vincent marrying Prince!Butcher off and Idk if he would actually do that. He probably doesn't care about marrying his sons off.

king!vincent would really not want to marry his sons off, true. but he also knows how important it is for the kingdom n whatnot to keep their allies close. butcher can be persuaded into it, so, uh, yeah

It's a shame Suguru and Sukuna never interacted. While Jogo truly believes in his ideals, to the point he is relatively at peace dying for them as long as the world does change, Suguru dies and his ideals largely die with him (yes there are still members of the cult who believe in sorcerer eugenics but they're much less effective) and like. Telling someone you're going to attack places + giving them time to evacuate said places is. Not the most effective form of terrorism tbh.

Basically, while I'm not saying Sukuna would respect or like Suguru, I think Sukuna would recognize a similarity in their desire just to HURT people, disregarding long term goals. Bc honestly I think that's what's at the core of Suguru- he wants power over people to hurt them.

contrast with Gojo, who is similar in strength to Sukuna, but grew up with privilege and respect for his power, so he doesn't really abuse it the way Suguru and Sukuna do theirs bc like. What's the point y'know, it'd just be Boring. Which isnt to say he never abuses it, just that he usually does that to get Something from the abuse of power
